Veterinary Referrals: Supporting Canine Behaviour Cases

Creating Radiant Dogs

While Radiant Cats is primarily focused on feline behaviour, I also offer behaviour support for dogs by veterinary referral only.

Behaviour cases can be challenging. I can help!

As a Registered Veterinary Technologist with a passion for behaviour, I understand the important role that veterinary care plays in addressing behaviour concerns. Behaviour changes can be influenced by pain, illness, medication, stress, and other medical factors, which is why collaboration with the veterinary team is an important part of providing appropriate support.

After the DVM establishes a diagnosis and treatment plan, I can serve as an additional layer of support for the client by answering questions, helping family members implement recommendations, teaching consent-focused approaches to handling and medication administration, and providing the veterinary team with objective updates on the dog’s progress.

How can I help your canine patients?

My role is to work alongside the veterinary team to help clients understand their dog’s behaviour, implement behaviour modification strategies, and make practical changes at home.

Canine Veterinary Referral Form

The referral process:

  1.  Obtain the client’s consent to share their contact information and the dog’s medical records.
  2. The referring veterinarian completes the referral form on this page.
  3. I contact the client by email to schedule an appointment and arrange payment ($150/hr virtual; $180/hr in-person for Edmonton-area clients. A travel fee of $100 may be applied for in-person visits outside of Edmonton, but will be discussed with client when booking).
  4. The client and I meet for the consultation.
  5. The referring veterinarian and client receive an emailed summary and training plan.
  6. Ongoing collaboration with the veterinary team may continue as needed to support the client’s success.

Please note: To provide the best care for your patient, a behavioural diagnosis and summary of recommendations made to date are required. See the Behaviour Problem List for examples of cases where I can provide support.

You may attach medical records using this form, or email directly to radiantcatsbehaviour@gmail.com. Please include the client's presenting complaint, the cat's behaviour history, findings of the physical exam, relevant diagnostic results, and previous treatment plans in the medical records.

Edmonton, AB, Canada

I reside in Treaty 6 Territory, which is the traditional and ancestral lands of the Nêhiyaw (Nay-hee-yow), Dene (Deh-neyh), Anishinaabe (Ah-nish-in-ah-bay), Nakota Isga (Na-koh-tah ee-ska), Niitsitapi (Nit-si-tahp-ee), Métis (May-tea), and Inuit peoples. I recognize that amiskwacîwâskahikan, colonially known as Edmonton, has been called home by many Indigenous peoples since time immemorial.  I am committed to learning about, honouring, and celebrating Indigenous ways of knowing and their connections to the animals who share this land with us.
